US Farm Land Values Reach Record $4,000 per Acre

USDA Releases 2025 Land Values Report, Highlighting Trends and Insights

he U.S. Department of Agriculture's National Agricultural Statistics Service has released its 2025 Land Values Summary, revealing a significant increase in farm real estate values across the country. The average value per acre rose to $4,350, a 4.3% jump from 2024 and an additional $180 per acre. California tops the list with farmland valued at $13,700 per acre, up 2.2% from last year.

    Cropland values also saw a notable increase, averaging $5,830 per acre, a 4.7% rise from the previous year. This is a substantial gain from 2011, when cropland averaged $2,980 per acre. California's cropland value reached $17,940 per acre, up 3.6%, while Iowa's cropland averaged $10,300 an acre, a 5.1% increase.

    Pasture values also experienced growth, averaging $1,920 per acre, a 4.9% rise from 2024 and an additional $90 per acre.
