The Shoppe Custard & Grill, formerly known as Toucan Custard, has been revitalized under new ownership. Yomi Verdin, a local resident and entrepreneur, took the reins in January 2025, bringing with her a vision to enhance the customer experience while honoring the legacy of the original owners.

    As part of this renewal, The Shoppe Custard & Grill has introduced a fresh menu featuring build-your-own burgers, gyros, chicken tenders, and a gourmet grilled cheese with pulled pork. The shop now boasts a new logo designed by Milwaukee artist Michael Cerda, which adorns the interior dining space and team member uniforms.

    The outdoor pole and rooftop signs have been installed, completing the visual makeover of this West Bend landmark. Verdin credits her family, faith, and dedicated team for their support in getting the store ready to open. Although the initial soft opening was delayed due to a water main break, the shop is now poised to regain its momentum.

    Verdin's commitment to community involvement is evident in her decision to invest in this local business. "I want to do right by this community," she said. "This town has such a rich tradition, and I'm honored to be part of it." The Shoppe Custard & Grill aims to become an integral part of West Bend's fabric, offering a welcoming atmosphere for locals and visitors alike.

    As the shop continues to evolve, Verdin is focused on building strong relationships with her team and customers. "We're taking the next few weeks to find our rhythm again," she said. "Our goal is to be at our best in April."
