The EBZ Business School (FH), whose main campus is located in Bochum, has appointed Prof. Dr. Michael Becken for its university location in Hamburg. Prof. Dr. Becken, a member of the Hamburg Parliament, will henceforth be responsible for the professorship of Real Estate Economics, with a particular focus on the asset management of real estate portfolios. Through this appointment, he will play a significant role in shaping the education of future specialists and executives in the real estate industry.
Prof. Becken is regarded as a distinguished figure in the real estate sector in Northern Germany. He possesses many years of experience in academia, corporate practice and politics. Prior to his current position, he had held a professorship at NBS in Hamburg since 2017. His expertise extends to leadership positions within the BECKEN Group, including Chief Financial Officer and founder of BECKEN Invest and Asset Management.
Extensive Experience and Political Activity
As part of his activities for the BECKEN Group, Prof. Dr. Becken took over the chairmanship of the Supervisory Board of Industria Immobilien in Frankfurt for the year 2025. Since March 2025, he has also been a member of the Hamburg Parliament, where he serves as the economic policy spokesperson for the CDU parliamentary group. This combination of academic expertise, operational leadership experience and political activity underscores his comprehensive contribution to the real estate sector.
Prof. Dr. Michael Becken stated that the real estate industry is undergoing a phase of profound change. He emphasised the importance of combining academic excellence with a clear practical relevance. His intention is to work with students on forward-looking issues of asset and investment management and to further expand dialogue with the industry.
Strengthening the Hamburg University Location

Prof. Becken's academic competence, many years of management experience and networking are considered ideal for the university location in the North.
