Three new openings on Crete and Rhodes announced for 2027
Wavemaker Hospitality is expanding its portfolio and planning the market entry of its new APHI Resorts collection in Greece for 2027. At launch, the brand encompasses three hotel complexes on the islands of Crete and Rhodes. The name is derived from the Greek word for touch and feeling. The operational concept places deceleration, regional gastronomy and cultural touchpoints at the forefront.
On Crete, the APHI KALLI property is being developed in Chania as an adults-only hotel with 235 rooms in the immediate vicinity of the historic Venetian harbour. The grounds integrate a botanical garden featuring native wild herbs, reflecting the island's biodiversity. In addition, areas are designated for local craft markets offering handmade goods such as leather items, cosmetics and Cretan agricultural produce.
On the island of Rhodes, the portfolio comprises two properties with distinct orientations. In Kolymbia, the beachfront APHI AURA features 204 rooms. The resort is characterised by open-plan layouts, pool areas, and offerings for yoga and meditation by the sea.
Located on the coast of Ixia is the island's second property, APHI MIRA. The existing building dates back to 1958 and was historically a frequent destination for international guests and dignitaries. Following a comprehensive revitalisation, the property will offer 198 rooms and suites overlooking adjacent gardens and the Aegean Sea. The location's programme includes weekly open-air screenings of historic film productions shot on Rhodes.
Regional architecture, wellness and distribution channels
The architectural design of the three properties draws on regional stylistic elements. Among these are floors inspired by Rhodian pebble mosaics, Byzantine-style round arches, as well as locally produced ceramics and marble. Cultural programmes such as panigyri festivals, craft workshops and culinary tastings complement the on-site offerings.
An integral feature across all three locations is the ELISPA Wellness Retreat, whose treatments are based on regional herbs and marine minerals. In addition, indoor and outdoor facilities are available for Pilates, yoga and meditation. Distribution of the 637 units will take place via the company's own website as well as through global distribution systems. Detailed specifications for the individual properties are expected in the coming weeks.
