The non-food discounter Action has opened a new branch in Munich-Freiham, directly adjacent to Europe's largest district development, in Vonovia's ZAM district centre. This business opening represents a significant addition to the retail offering in the western part of the Bavarian state capital. This will provide improved local supply of daily necessities for the up to 30,000 residents and approximately 15,000 employees expected in Freiham in the future.
Action's new premises, at Amelie-Nacken-Straße 9, is the company's seventh location in Munich and its first in the western part of the city. The market's retail space covers approximately 1,150 square metres, complemented by an additional 650 square metres of storage and administration areas. These dimensions underscore the importance of the establishment for the local infrastructure and the supply of residents.
Location and Accessibility
The ZAM district centre is characterised by a configuration that combines living and working with shopping and leisure opportunities. The integration of commercial spaces, such as that of Action, into such a multifunctional centre promotes the development of an urban micro-structure. The accessibility of the location is ensured by a variety of car and bicycle parking spaces and its walkable proximity to Freiham S-Bahn station. This contributes to the attractiveness of the location and enables flexible arrival for customers and employees, regardless of their preferred mode of transport.
Robert Stellmach, Regional Head of Bavaria at Vonovia, commented on the opening, describing it as a milestone for the district development. He emphasised that the new market strengthens Freiham as a retail location beyond the district's borders, both across western Munich and in the adjacent district.
Product Range and Assortment Dynamics
Action carries an assortment of approximately 6,000 household and everyday products from 14 different categories. These include items from decoration, DIY supplies, toys and multimedia, as well as household goods, garden and outdoor articles, personal care products, fashion and home textiles. The pricing structure is characterised by the fact that about two-thirds of the products are offered for under two euros. A weekly assortment adjustment, with around 150 items exchanged, ensures a dynamic product range for customers.
The new Action market in Freiham is open to the public from Monday to Saturday, from 9 am to 8 pm.
