Tan France, known from the television formats 'Queer Eye' and 'Next in Fashion', has launched his bespoke residence in Salt Lake City with a price tag of US$7.5 million. This positions the property as the current highest-priced object in the city. France and his husband Rob France acquired the plot in 2021 and completed the construction of the English Tudor-style residence in 2023.
The house, nearly 7,000 square feet in size, is situated on a 3.36-acre plot within a gated community. It combines traditional architecture with highly individualised interiors, offering mountain views, a swimming pool, and separate guest accommodation. The property was carefully designed to convey a charm reminiscent of an English country house passed down through generations.
Features and Design
Upon entering the house, a sprawling staircase greets visitors, its ascent lined with hand-painted forest wallpaper. From there, one enters formal and informal living areas. A particular highlight is the eat-in kitchen, which France refers to as his 'happy place'. Here, cream-coloured cabinetry meets black-and-white chequered floors and exposed brick walls, creating a playful mix of patterns and textures, illuminated by the natural light from a large glass window.
The kitchen features a gas hob from L'Atelier Paris and a dining nook with a built-in walnut dining table and bench. Additionally, a separate pantry extends the work area with extra cupboards, open shelving, and its own La Cornue cooker.
