Fashion and lifestyle company Breuninger is reorganising the management of its two shopping centres in Baden-Württemberg. With effect from 1 January 2027, ECE Marketplaces will take over operational leadership and leasing for the Breuningerland centres in Sindelfingen and Ludwigsburg. The Hamburg-based company succeeds service provider Sonae Sierra, which has held the centre management mandate for both locations since autumn 2025.
This strategic realignment forms part of a long-term investment programme. Breuninger aims to sustainably strengthen both retail properties and align them with changing market demands. While the Stuttgart-based company will continue to act as a strategic driver and contribute its retail expertise, ECE will steer the core operational areas of the centres in future.
Expanded remit and operational profile
In addition to leasing, the mandate for ECE Marketplaces encompasses centre marketing, facility management, and the overall coordination of day-to-day operations. The objective of the partnership is to consolidate the regional market position of both locations and enhance their appeal as shopping and community destinations.
- —Responsibility for leasing and realigning the tenant mix
- —Management of day-to-day operations and technical facility management
- —Implementation of targeted marketing and positioning measures
- —Enhancement of the visitor experience through contemporary service concepts
Focused development of both retail locations
Hendrik Pannenborg, Chief Real Estate Officer at Breuninger, thanked outgoing partner Sonae Sierra for their work and highlighted that partnering with ECE brings on board an experienced player to drive the long-term development of both sites. He noted that the shared ambition is to create a compelling environment for customers and retail partners while securing the regional appeal of both assets.
Joanna Fisher, Chief Executive Officer of ECE Marketplaces, highlighted the pooling of core competencies. She stated that the collaboration combines the strengths of two established industry leaders across retail, customer engagement, and professional shopping centre management. Future efforts will centre on sharper location profiles, a needs-based sector mix, and a noticeably elevated visitor experience.
