In Mautern, the course has been set for a significant scheme in regional property development. On Wednesday afternoon, the official groundbreaking ceremony formally heralded the active construction phase for two interconnected projects. The gathering marks the formal transition from the preceding planning period to visible structural execution on the site.
At the centre of the scheme are the development of Hotel Schloss Mautern and the construction of the Wohnpark Donaupark Mautern residential park. Going forward, the project brings together hospitality use and residential space at a single location. The combination of the traditional Schloss Mautern and the modern Donaupark creates a multi-layered structure for visitors and future residents alike.
High importance for the location
The official launch on Wednesday afternoon took place in the presence of the state governor. This high-ranking visit underlines the tangible importance attached to the major project for the development of the site and the wider region. Public representatives attend the start of such extensive building works to acknowledge their relevance to the regional community.
The ensemble is divided into two main functional core areas, which are being realised in coordination with one another as the works progress:
- —The delivery of Hotel Schloss Mautern with its dedicated focus on the hospitality sector.
- —The construction of the Wohnpark Donaupark Mautern as a new residential quarter on the development site.
- —The functional and spatial linking of both components on the Danube.
Outlook for the construction phase
With the groundbreaking ceremony concluded, further civil engineering and structural building works are now commencing. The realisation of the hotel and Donaupark will decisively shape the urban landscape of Mautern during the upcoming construction phases and reposition the site over the long term.
