Industrious, a major player in the flexible workspace sector, has announced a partnership with Google. The aim is to introduce a network of Google Beam meeting rooms, which will be exclusively accessible to members and guests of the company. This innovation highlights the ongoing development in the office space segment and the integration of modern technologies to enhance collaboration.
Developed by Google, HP Dimension with Google Beam is positioned as an AI-powered video communication platform. It allows meeting participants to be displayed at their real size, as if they were sitting together at a table. Spatial audio assigns each voice directly to the speaker, creating an immersive sense of shared presence without the need for headsets or complex installations. This promotes more natural interaction and communication.
Availability and Benefits of the Technology
The first Google Beam rooms will be available from October in New York City, Chicago, Atlanta, and Palo Alto, California. Specific Industrious locations that will offer this technology include Tower 49 in New York City, Ponce City Market in Atlanta, the Ogilvie Transportation Center in Chicago, and a location in East Palo Alto.
Carlos Becil, Chief Product Officer at Industrious, commented on the advantages of the technology in an email: He highlighted how natural conversations feel, as people appear at their true size and their voices emanate from the direction in which they are seated. This facilitates the recognition of facial expressions and subtle nuances, which are crucial for human connection. Becil also emphasised that the partnership enables them to offer members a personal experience across thousands of miles, which is a novelty.
Google studies suggest that Beam technology generates a 50 per cent stronger sense of social connection and improves participants' ability to contribute to conversations by 21 per cent. The lifelike presence and authentic connection across different cities can increase attention, deepen non-verbal engagement, and reduce fatigue during meetings. The rooms can also be used as premium conference centres for group meetings via Google Meet and Zoom.
Company Development and Service Portfolio
Industrious was founded in 2012 and fully acquired by CBRE in 2025. The company now operates over 250 locations in more than 80 cities worldwide. Industrious's flexible offering includes dedicated offices, turnkey private suites, and on-demand access to coworking and meeting rooms. The Google Beam rooms are free for Industrious members and can be booked by non-members, with prices similar to other bookable conference rooms.
