Cureus, a portfolio holder specialising in inpatient care properties, commenced construction of a new senior citizens' residence in Niederkassel-Rheidt, north of Bonn, in July. The project is being carried out in accordance with the provisions of development plan No. 158 Rh “Obstgarten” in the newly designated building area in 2022. The company is acting as the general contractor for this project itself.
Upon completion, the care facility on Marktstraße in 53859 Niederkassel (North Rhine-Westphalia) will comprise 112 single rooms. Care specialist compassio has been selected as the future operator for the new location. This represents compassio's third location in Niederkassel, complementing the existing residences in Niederkassel-Mondorf and -Lülsdorf.
Planning and construction progress
Antonia Bonz, project manager at Cureus, explained the project's timeline. Following the commencement of earthworks, civil engineering for the basement will begin. Above-ground construction is expected to become gradually visible from late summer. Thanks to an established system approach, completion is targeted for early 2028. During the construction phase, every effort will be made to show the utmost consideration for road traffic and local residents, despite possible, but usual, temporary inconveniences caused by noise and dirt.
Johannes Knake, Managing Director of compassio, commented on the operating concept. With the start of construction, planning for the residence's operations will begin in parallel. The staffing of the initial team for the Rheidt location will also be initiated to oversee construction progress and future outfitting. Applications for positions are anticipated from mid-2027. Those interested in a care place can also register their interest from mid-2027. This aims to ensure an early opening after completion and a quality-assured facility for future residents.
Creation of jobs
At the new location, in addition to providing care places, approximately 100 new jobs will also be created. These positions are expected to be full-time and part-time in various areas such as care, administration, building services, and catering. The creation of these jobs is seen as a contribution to regional employment and to securing care provision.
