Cureus GmbH, a company specialising in inpatient care properties, completed new capacities in the care and assisted living sectors and initiated further construction projects in the third quarter of 2026. Between June and September 2026, a total of 115 units in these segments were handed over. Concurrently, construction began on four new residence sites, which are prospectively to comprise 543 care and residential units. The operation of all new facilities will be managed in cooperation with various operating partners.
Christian Möhrke, CEO of Cureus, emphasised the company's high level of construction activity. New constructions for inpatient care places have totalled approximately 1,000 units since the first quarter of 2026. Further construction projects for around 200 inpatient care places are planned to commence in the fourth quarter. Based on the 6,330 completed inpatient care units forecast by pflegemarkt.com for 2025, Cureus' new constructions represent about 20 per cent of this volume. In 2025, Cureus already accounted for approximately 15 per cent of completed inpatient care places. In parallel, numerous units for assisted living and day care, as well as classic residential units within larger neighbourhood projects, are being realised.
Structure and Management Level
In September 2026, Mechthild Mösenfechtel was appointed Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of Cureus and joined the management board. She succeeds Oliver Sturhahn, who left the company by mutual agreement. The management board thus comprises CEO Christian Möhrke, CFO Mechthild Mösenfechtel, and Chief Construction Manager (CCO) Frank Oberländer. Christin M. Büttner, who has held power of attorney since 2024, is responsible for sales coordination and administration.
Bulwiengesa's current Development Monitor once again confirms Cureus' position as a leading project developer in Germany's senior living property segment. While the analysis shows a broader mix of players in the market segment, Cureus' development strength remains unbroken. The company is also increasingly active in the development of residential quarters that combine care with other asset classes and complementary infrastructure.
Strategic Direction and Portfolio Development
Cureus continues to pursue a selective divestment of sites from its existing portfolio to market participants in order to free up liquidity for the realisation of new projects. The individual sale of senior living apartments to private investors via sales partners is also part of its core business. Land acquisition for new projects continues, with a focus on North Rhine-Westphalia, as well as Hesse, Lower Saxony, Schleswig-Holstein, and Berlin. The company is seeking centrally located, well-connected plots in residential or mixed-use areas of 3,000 square metres or more.
At the end of the third quarter of 2026, Cureus' real estate portfolio comprised a total of 78 leased sites with 7,728 care places, 801 assisted living units, and 238 other units. Additionally, around 4,270 units at 28 sites are under construction or in planning. Specifically, 1,514 care places, 159 assisted living units, and one other unit at twelve sites are under construction. A further 1,740 care places, 850 assisted living units, and five other units at 16 sites are already contractually secured in planning.
