The Danieli, Venezia, A Four Seasons Hotel has completed its reopening and is welcoming its first guests. The property is located on the Riva degli Schiavoni and offers a perspective of San Giorgio Maggiore from its rooftop terrace. A number of the rooms guarantee views of the Lagoon.
Rainer Stampfer, President, Global Operations, Hotels and Resorts at Four Seasons, commented on the reopening of the hotel as the fourth location in Italy. He highlighted the collaboration with Gruppo Statuto, which makes it possible to experience Venice anew. The Palazzo Dandolo, built in 1471 as the residence of the Dandolo family, is considered an example of Venetian Gothic architecture. Together with the Palazzo Casa Nuova and the Palazzo Danieli Excelsior, it forms the hotel's ensemble. The Palazzo Dandolo and the Palazzo Casa Nuova were redesigned under the aegis of interior designer Pierre-Yves Rochon, combining historical substance with contemporary design elements.
For the current reopening, 120 rooms and suites are available. Following the completion of the restoration of the Palazzo Danieli Excelsior in 2027, the offering will be expanded to a total of 168 accommodations. Christian Zandonella, General Manager of the Danieli, Venezia, A Four Seasons Hotel, described the reopening as an important milestone after a phase of intensive restoration work. He emphasised the combination of the hotel's history with Four Seasons' hospitality.
Pierre-Yves Rochon's design concept integrates elements of Venetian identity through a combination of history, lighting design, and material selection. The interiors reflect the colour palette of the Venetian Lagoon with hues such as celadon green, shades of blue, terracotta, ochre, and powder tones, inspired by local marble facades, plasterwork, and the city's architecture. The lobby in Palazzo Dandolo features a restored, hand-gilded coffered ceiling. Columns, natural stone surfaces, and the staircase were restored by artisans. Venetian mirrors and reflective surfaces expand the spatial effect. Materials such as Murano glass, terrazzo floors, and fabrics by Rubelli refer to Venetian craftsmanship. An art collection, which takes up the aspect of the Grand Tour, complements the interiors with intaglios, Venetian copperplate engravings, and antiqued mirrors.
The restoration of the Palazzi Dandolo and Casa Nuova includes more spacious layouts as well as an expanded selection of junior suites and one-bedroom suites. The rooms offer different views of the Lagoon, the canals, or the city's rooftops. Modern design is combined with contemporary comfort, including flexible layouts that can be expanded through connecting doors. The technological equipment integrates a media wall for the television, automated curtains, controllable lighting moods, and an air conditioning system.
The rooftop terrace of the Terrazza Danieli restaurant has also been redesigned to combine the view over the Lagoon with a culinary offering. The restaurant's atmosphere has been modernised while preserving its historic character, using pastel tones, azure accents, and gold nuances. Mirrors enhance the natural light and the views of the Lagoon and the island of San Giorgio Maggiore. On the outdoor terrace, terracotta tones highlight the facade. Executive Chef Adriano Rausa presents Italian cuisine with Venetian influences, using seasonal ingredients and regional products. The gastronomic offering is complemented by a bar that serves classic Italian aperitivi and modern cocktails. The redesign of the Danieli will conclude at the end of 202X with a Danieli Spa.
