With the selection of GFT Technologies as its transformation and system integration partner, Deutsche Bank is marking a significant milestone in the modernisation of its core banking platform in the Private Bank. This initiative aims to simplify the existing technology landscape, strengthen operational resilience, and create a more flexible and scalable foundation for future growth and innovations. The focus is on the central technological foundations of banking operations, particularly core banking systems for bank and credit products in private banking and wealth management in Germany.
Deutsche Bank has chosen Thought Machine's Vault Core as its new core banking platform. GFT, as a global delivery partner of Thought Machine, will support Deutsche Bank in integrating this new platform. The company contributes extensive banking expertise, cloud engineering competence, and AI-driven solutions to ensure efficient and predictable implementation in a highly regulated environment. An integrated team, consisting of onshore, nearshore, and offshore locations, is intended to combine local expertise with global delivery capabilities.
Strategic Alignment and Partner Collaboration
Yiping Li, Chief Operating Officer of Deutsche Bank's Private Bank, stated that the modernisation of the core banking infrastructure is driving the implementation of their strategy. It is intended to help simplify the technology landscape, reduce complexity, and create a scalable foundation for future growth. The overarching goal of this transformation is to improve the experience for clients and employees and strengthen the business's foundation for the years to come.
Christian Rhino, Chief Information Officer of Deutsche Bank's Private Bank, emphasised that modernising the core banking landscape represents one of the most significant technological transformations. Vault Core offers a modern, cloud-native foundation designed to enhance resilience, scalability, and flexibility. By separating product logic from infrastructure, products can be developed, adapted, and deployed more efficiently, while gradually reducing dependence on fragmented legacy systems.
Christopher Ortiz, Group Executive Board Member and Chief Executive Global Accounts & Offerings at GFT Technologies, stressed that the modernisation of core banking systems is a fundamental step for a bank's technological transformation. The collaboration with Deutsche Bank and Thought Machine contributes to building a modern, scalable platform that supports innovation, operational efficiency, and future growth, and creates the technological basis for utilising AI.
Long-standing Partnership and Future Perspectives
The current project builds on more than 25 years of collaboration between Deutsche Bank and GFT. GFT combines its deep understanding of the bank's technology environment with extensive experience from large-scale transformation projects in the core banking sector. This long-standing expertise is complemented by GFT's international experience in implementing Thought Machine and deploying Vault Core in modern, cloud-native banking environments.
Paul Taylor, CEO and founder of Thought Machine, highlighted that with this step, Deutsche Bank is sending a clear signal on how large international banks can modernise their core banking infrastructure. Replacing fragmented legacy systems with a modern architecture creates the necessary real-time capabilities to simplify operations, increase system reliability, and enhance the client experience. The ten-year partnership underscores the long-term focus of this transformation project.
