The ground-breaking ceremony for a new local supply centre took place in Nideggen, North Rhine-Westphalia. VK Immobilien Gruppe is acting as the investor and developer for the project at Jülicher Straße (L249) / L33, which is scheduled for completion in the coming months. The project development and general contracting are being handled by Ten Brinke. The plot of land covers approximately 20,000 square metres.

The centre will include a REWE market and a Lidl market. The REWE market is planned with approximately 2,500 square metres of retail space, and the Lidl market with about 1,400 square metres. In total, future customers will have around 3,900 square metres of retail space available. Additionally, approximately 230 car parking spaces are planned. Completion is forecast for mid-2027.

Strengthening regional infrastructure

The project will substantially improve local provision within the urban area. Marco Schmunkamp, Mayor of Nideggen, stated that the undertaking strengthens local supply and represents a building block for the positive development of the town, by making residents' daily lives easier and increasing the town's attractiveness. Michael Weiß, Managing Director of VK Immobilien Gruppe, viewed the project as an investment in the Nideggen location and the creation of a modern supply hub with long-term added value for the region.

Improved local supply is particularly relevant for residents of the emerging residential area on Jülicher Straße, as well as for employees in the future Gut Kirschbaum commercial area. Esther Peterhoff, Project Manager at Ten Brinke, emphasised the creation of a functional, easily accessible and modern local supply hub that meets current and future requirements.

Sustainability aspects of building services

In addition to strengthening regional supply, the project partners place importance on climate-friendly building services. The plans integrate environmentally friendly solutions to minimise energy consumption and ensure a sustainable infrastructure. This underscores the project's aim to be not only functional but also ecologically viable for the future.
