Following the major fire in April 2026, which caused substantial property damage at the Hotel Klosterbräu in Seefeld in Tyrol, the date for the resumption of operations has been confirmed. The traditional establishment will welcome guests again from 1 December 2026. The Seyrling owner family completed the reconstruction alongside an extension planned prior to the blaze within a timeframe of just six months. The total investment volume amounts to more than EUR 30 million.
The fire presented those involved in the project with a complex dual challenge: whilst the parts of the building damaged by fire, smoke and extinguishing water had to be remediated, previously planned extensions and alterations continued concurrently. Hotel owner Alois Seyrling, who manages the property in the sixth generation, explained that planning, approval and construction phases inevitably had to take place simultaneously. Alongside the contracted construction companies, a retention rate of 90 per cent among core staff contributed to the swift delivery of the schedule.
Extensive refurbishment and structural additions
The destruction affected key functional and front-of-house areas of the hotel. In the course of the reconstruction, the hotel lobby including the reception, four restaurants, the hotel bar, as well as conference and fitness areas were restored. The same applies to the yoga and Pilates rooms, the kids' and night club, as well as stairwells, laundry facilities, staff quarters, lift installations and cooling technology. Large sections of the technical infrastructure and interior furnishings had to be built anew from scratch.
- —Construction of a standalone adults-only spa in a separate building within the hotel grounds
- —Creation of eleven additional guest rooms as part of the extension
- —Complete restoration of restaurant and communal areas damaged by fire and extinguishing water
- —Restructuring of building services, lift systems and cooling installations
Hotel Klosterbräu has been owned by the Seyrling family since 1809. Currently, six family members are actively engaged in operations. As Alois Seyrling emphasised, meeting the reopening deadline ahead of the winter season was a core objective to ensure continuity for guests, staff and partners.
Selected works not strictly required for regular winter operations will be carried out in spring 2027. These include the final completion of the outdoor grounds and gardens, along with remaining finishing works and targeted technical additions within the building.
