Palais Vest in Recklinghausen sees the return of local food supply to the city centre. In December 2026, the family supermarket Pochet will open a new site in the basement area, which had been unused since Kaufland's departure. This market is designed as a flagship store and represents the largest and most comprehensive implementation of the Pochet concept.
Pochet, founded in 2023 and based in Krefeld, is gradually expanding. The first market commenced operations in Gelsenkirchen in July 2025. The company is currently also present in Wuppertal and Neuss, with further sites to follow in Hagen and Recklinghausen. The company's concept, under the motto "Variety for all", combines the offering of a classic full-range retailer with a family-oriented shopping experience. Characteristic features include generous fresh food departments, a gastronomic offering including a café area, and play areas for children.
At the Recklinghausen site, this concept will be realised on a total area of approximately 4,444 square metres. The market includes a supermarket with an extensive range of goods and brands. The offering also comprises a wide selection of fresh products and specialities. A central element is the approximately 1,000-square-metre "Pochet Kids Kinderwelt", which provides a supervised children's area. This facility enables families to do their shopping in a relaxed atmosphere, while children are cared for in a secure and age-appropriate environment.
Strategic Development by INTERRA
For INTERRA Immobilien AG, the establishment of Pochet is part of a strategic revitalisation of Palais Vest. Since taking over the property at the turn of the year, the site has been consistently developed further. This includes the targeted occupancy of vacant spaces with concepts designed to increase the attractiveness of the city centre for visitors. Alexander Dold, Board Member of INTERRA Immobilien AG, stated that since the takeover, the company has been driven by the question of how to give the people of Recklinghausen a concrete reason to frequent the city centre again. He emphasised that with Pochet, local supply in the form of a full-range retailer with a comprehensive family and experience concept, which does not yet exist in this form, is returning. This is not a stop-gap measure, but a conscious step to re-establish Palais Vest as a vibrant centre of the city.
Recent developments at the site already include the re-opening of the ONLY store and the planned move-in of the Müller drugstore chain. Further leases are close to completion. Onur Yigiter, founder and managing director of Pochet GmbH, highlighted that Recklinghausen will be the company's first flagship store and represents the largest and most comprehensive realisation of the Pochet idea to date. The aim is to make shopping pleasant for the entire family and to create a place where people enjoy spending time. Elif Ünlücay, Head of Centre Management / Portfolio Letting Manager at INTERRA Property Management GmbH, added that they were not looking for just any new tenant, but the right one for this space, and with Pochet, a concept was found that combines freshness, variety, and a family experience, perfectly suiting Palais Vest.
