Actor Jake Johnson, known for his role as Nick Miller in the hit sitcom "New Girl", has offered his Pasadena residence for sale at USD 3.295 million. Johnson acquired the four-bedroom, four-bathroom property in 2017 for just over USD 2.2 million and lived there for nearly a decade.
Located behind private gates, the 3,153-square-foot modern estate was redesigned by architect Aleks Istanbullu. It features generous living areas, a swimming pool, and lushly landscaped gardens. Thomas Atamian of Coldwell Banker Realty is the contact for further information regarding this offering.
Interior and Features
Inside Johnson's Pasadena home, hardwood floors and timber details extend through an open-plan living and dining area. Along the exterior walls, large windows and sliding glass doors provide continuous views of the manicured garden, with the doors leading directly to an outdoor terrace.
The kitchen, located further down a hallway, is fitted with custom timber cabinetry and marble worktops. High-end appliances are arranged in a narrow, galley-style layout. A professional range sits beneath an oversized stainless steel extractor hood, while the sink and additional preparation areas are opposite, beneath a large window. At the end of the kitchen, a second dining area opens up under a timber-panelled ceiling with skylights, before transitioning to the pool terrace.
The principal suite, also at the end of the hallway, opens under a vaulted ceiling. The bed is positioned opposite a fireplace, which is framed on one side by a large glass window and on the other by sliding doors leading to the pool. The en-suite bathroom is almost entirely finished with Italian blue glass tiles. The bathtub is built into a tiled platform beneath two corner windows, while the vanity with timber cabinets and a marble top runs along the opposite side. A reconfigured walk-in wardrobe adjoins, with custom-built cabinets on both sides offering a mix of hanging rails, drawers, and open shelving.
Exterior and Additional Structures
Directly off the principal suite, a conservatory extends along the side of the house under a translucent roof that allows filtered light into the space throughout the day. Timber-framed openings line the exterior walls, while a private sauna is located to one side. In addition to the main house, two further freestanding buildings offer flexible spaces for a home office, creative studio, or wellness facilities.
The first building features a more contemporary design, with white walls, warm timber floors, and a series of timber-framed windows along one side. Track lighting runs the length of the ceiling, while the open-plan layout allows space for a desk at one end and a small seating area near the glass doors. The second building is significantly more enclosed and rustic, with timber panelling on the walls and ceiling and smaller windows.
Outdoors, the garden directly adjoins the main living spaces, with a long lap pool running parallel to the house and a covered terrace alongside it. The remainder of the estate opens up to a verdant garden, surrounded by tall trees and dense vegetation. Small seating and dining areas are dotted throughout the grounds, including a hidden lounge beneath the canopy.

During his ownership, Johnson became known for filling the Pasadena home with an eclectic mix of furniture, artworks, and secondhand finds. He often described his approach to furnishing as transforming "other people's rubbish into treasures". With the house now on the market, many of these pieces have already been removed, shifting the focus to the architecture and layout. What remains is a property with open-plan living areas, a renovated kitchen, separate work and wellness spaces, and a profoundly designed garden, leaving ample room for a future owner to infuse their own style.
