Heidelberg-based operator nexspace data centers has expanded its presence in southern Germany. The company, which specialises in local data centres across the German-speaking region, acquired a leasehold on an approximately 10,000-square-metre plot in Erding near Munich. Global business law firm DLA Piper advised the company on the legal execution of this transaction.
On the secured property, nexspace plans to construct a new data centre. The future offering is aimed at commercial and institutional users with demanding profiles. Specifically, the concept addresses start-ups, medium-sized enterprises and public institutions that place high security demands on the operation of their technical infrastructure.
Fourth location in the German-speaking region
With the development in Erding, nexspace is expanding its existing network of locations according to plan. Following Heidelberg, Graz and Stuttgart, the Upper Bavarian property marks the company's fourth location. By connecting to the Munich region, the portfolio is supplemented by a hub in the vicinity of the Bavarian state capital.
The schedule for delivering the infrastructure property is established. Commissioning of the data centre in Erding is scheduled for 2028. The development meets the continuous demand for data centre capacity outside traditional core hubs.
