On 23rd July 2026, the Building Committee of the City of Starnberg passed the approval resolution for the planned Museum Quarter in a central location with a clear majority. This resolution marks a significant milestone in the ongoing development plan procedure and paves the way for the further development of the project at the so-called 'cradle of Starnberg'.
The rapid progress of the procedure was made possible by the constructive cooperation between the Starnberg city administration and Deputy Mayor Angelika Kammerl. A remarkable aspect of the approach is the structure of the collaboration: the City of Starnberg delegated the drafting of the development plan to the private developer in close coordination, while the building administration primarily focused on reviewing and approving the planning documents.
Project Scope and Urban Significance
The project, initiated by AHAM Entwicklungsgesellschaft mbH, envisages the development of an urban quarter. This includes a combination of residential units, commercial uses and publicly accessible areas. The aim is to close an urban gap between Bahnhofsplatz and Lake Starnberg, thereby making an important contribution to the further development of the city centre. An integral part of the ensemble is a publicly accessible terrace, which is intended to sustainably improve the quality of stay in the city centre. The buildings of the quarter will also be equipped with green roofs and photovoltaic systems.
AHAM Entwicklungsgesellschaft mbH acts as the project sponsor and owner. Its shareholders, Michael Ehret and Stefan Klein, developed the building rights with the support of e+k Development GmbH.
Next Steps and Public Participation
Following the forthcoming public display, the timely commencement of the project's realisation is planned. The public display of the planning documents is scheduled for the period from 17th August to 29th September 2026. During this time, citizens and public authorities have the opportunity to inspect the plans and submit relevant comments. Heiko Menzel, Head of Project Planning at e+k Development GmbH, noted that the approval resolution is an important step towards the realisation of the project after around four and a half years of intensive planning and coordination.
