The Manhattan building that once housed Lady Gaga's former penthouse was, before its conversion into a luxury condominium building, "The Hit Factory", one of New York City's most famous recording studios. Over the years, the facility hosted some of the biggest names in music history, including Michael Jackson, Mariah Carey, Celine Dion, Madonna, U2, Coldplay, and the Rolling Stones.
After "The Hit Factory" closed in 2005, the building was converted into 27 private residences. This includes Penthouse C, which is currently on offer for $6.995 million. The transformation continued to attract prominent residents, including Lady Gaga, who lived in this penthouse while working on her second studio album "Born This Way".
The penthouse has also attracted other notable personalities over the years, such as Tracy Morgan during the height of "30 Rock", Carmelo Anthony and his then-wife La La Anthony after his move to the New York Knicks in 2011, as well as Anthony's former Knicks teammate Amar'e Stoudemire. The listing is managed by Lydia Sussek, Pamela Nichols, and David Troutman of Douglas Elliman.
Insights into the Duplex Residence
Located in the Hell’s Kitchen neighbourhood, the celebrity-favoured penthouse spans the top two floors of the building. Inside, white oak flooring leads into a double-height foyer, where a large skylight draws natural light into the central area. The residence then opens into an expansive great room with 3.66-metre-high ceilings and 2.74-metre-high windows that offer views of the surrounding city. An elegant, dark stone fireplace forms the focal point of the living area.
Immediately behind the living area is a formal dining area, furnished with a long marble table and an elongated chandelier. The adjacent, renovated kitchen features white marble countertops and flush cabinets, with a six-burner Viking range centrally positioned against the back wall. A Sub-Zero refrigerator and an integrated wine cooler are built into the cabinets near the entrance, while the Bosch dishwasher is discreetly placed next to the sink.
Sleeping Areas and Private Roof Terrace
On the main floor, two bedroom suites are situated side-by-side, each with its own bathroom and custom wardrobes. Upstairs, almost the entire level is dedicated to the master suite, offering ample space for a king-sized bed, multiple seating areas, and a separate study area. The suite's generous marble bathroom is equipped with Kohler and Waterworks fixtures, including a deep soaking tub, a floating vanity, and a glass shower enclosure.
Directly outside the master suite, the rest of the upper level opens onto a 102-square-metre roof terrace. Large paved areas surround the penthouse, where a central open-air lounge offers views of the Manhattan skyline and the Hudson River.

Few residential buildings in Manhattan are as closely linked to the entertainment industry as the former "The Hit Factory". Long before Lady Gaga moved into the penthouse, the property had already played an important role in the careers of some of the world's biggest artists. The conversion into condominiums marked a new chapter, with the building continuing to attract musicians, actors, and professional athletes who made the former studio their home. Now, Penthouse C returns to the market with newly renovated interiors, while retaining the features that have long attracted prominent residents, including its duplex layout, private outdoor spaces, and prime location in Hell's Kitchen.
