Michael Dell, founder, chairman, and CEO of Dell Technologies, is offering his Boston penthouse for auction. The minimum bid is set at $6.5 million, representing a substantial discount from the $10.9 million purchase price he paid for the property in 2016. The three-bedroom residence spans 4,110 square feet and is located near the top of the 60-storey Millennium Tower. Reports indicate that despite Dell's ten-year ownership, it was never truly lived in.
The acquisition of the penthouse includes not only the residential unit itself but also access to the extensive amenities of the Millennium Tower. These comprise a private club spanning approximately 20,000 square feet, as well as various wellness and entertainment areas. Paramount Realty USA is handling the auction; online bidding has already commenced and will conclude on 29 October.
Property Features and Amenities
The penthouse offers a range of luxurious features. The main living room boasts 14-foot high ceilings and floor-to-ceiling glass fronts, providing expansive views of the Boston skyline, the Charles River, and the harbour. A large grey sofa area is oriented towards a long gas fireplace integrated into dark wall panelling, while opposite, four curved lounge chairs are grouped around a glass table.
Adjacent to the fireplace is a smaller media area with a wall-mounted television. The dining room is furnished with six leather chairs around a rectangular table beneath a glass chandelier. The kitchen, designed with bespoke Christopher Peacock cabinetry and dark woodwork, features stainless steel appliances and a large stone island. A small breakfast nook overlooking the harbour is also present.
Private Suites and Further Amenities
The main suite comprises a large bedroom with dressers and a lounge chair by the window. The accompanying bathroom is fully clad in marble slabs, offering a long vanity unit, a freestanding bathtub in front of the windows, and a large, glazed shower with an integrated bench. A walk-in wardrobe with dark wooden cabinets and integrated lighting complements the suite. A second bedroom is currently set up as a home office but could also serve as an additional sleeping area.
The private terrace, accessible from the kitchen and media room, extends the living space outdoors with a covered seating area behind a glass balustrade. As the penthouse has seen little use over the past decade, Dell wishes to divest this part of his property portfolio. The auction will be conducted online and concludes on 29 October, with the seller retaining the right to accept or reject bids below the $6.5 million minimum price.
