ational Association of Realtors (NAR) and 35 real‑estate firms have agreed to pay $42,787,500 to settle antitrust claims that sellers were forced to pay commissions to both seller’s and buyer’s brokers. The settlement covers home sales listed on an MLS where a brokerage commission was paid.
**Eligible sales**
- Oct 31 2017 – Oct 14 2025 in Alabama, Georgia, Indiana, Maine, Michigan, Minnesota, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Vermont, Wisconsin, Wyoming
- Oct 31 2018 – Oct 14 2025 in Arkansas, Kentucky, Missouri
- Oct 31 2019 – Oct 14 2025 anywhere else in the U.S.
**Defendants**
William Raveis, Howard Hanna, EXIT, Windermere, Lyon, Charles Rutenberg, My Home, Tierra Antigua, West USA. No admission of wrongdoing was made.
**Claims**
- Deadline: December 30 2025
- Proof of purchase and evidence of commissions required
- Claims filed under penalty of perjury; fraudulent claims harm other members
- Final approval hearing: February 5 2026
**Payment**
Class members may receive a cash amount based on the commissions they paid and the number of claims filed.
