uxury real estate brokers Oren Alexander and his twin brother Alon, both 37, were arrested in South Florida on Wednesday as part of a joint investigation into sexual assault allegations that date back over a decade. Their brother Tal Alexander was also taken into custody by the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York.
According to court records, multiple women have accused one or more of the brothers of alleged sexual assaults and batteries in civil lawsuits filed in New York this year. Prosecutors believe the sex assaults may have started as early as when the brothers were in high school in Miami over two decades ago.
The indictment charges all three brothers with conspiracy to commit sex trafficking and sex trafficking of victims by force, fraud or coercion. It alleges that they used their positions in the real estate industry to meet women they targeted, often drugging them before assaulting them.
The indictment describes how the brothers would arrange for sexual assaults in advance, using luxury experiences and travel as bait to lure victims to locations where they were then forcibly raped or assaulted. In some cases, multiple men, including one or more of the Alexander brothers, were involved in the assaults.
Isabelle Kirshner, an attorney for Alon and Oren, confirmed that the three men were arrested in South Florida. The twins have previously denied wrongdoing in the accusations.
Miami-Dade State Attorney Katherine Fernandez Rundle said the charges against the Alexander brothers derive from three separate incidents involving three different victims. In one incident, a woman was allegedly gang-raped by the twins and their cousin Ohad Fisherman at Alon's apartment on Collins Avenue.
Fernandez Rundle also described two other alleged incidents involving Oren Alexander, including one where he allegedly raped a woman after giving her a glass of wine that made her lose control of her body. The third incident involved Oren allegedly sexually assaulting a woman who had met him at a dinner party.
The brothers' cousin Ohad Fisherman is also facing charges in the investigation but remains at large. Fernandez Rundle urged any possible victims to come forward, saying she's hopeful there aren't other victims in Miami-Dade.
Tal Alexander appeared in federal court in South Florida on Wednesday afternoon, where prosecutors sought to have him held due to being a flight risk and danger to the community. A detention and removal hearing is scheduled for Friday afternoon.
