alifornia‑based ALKEME Insurance has added New York City‑based Gotham Brokerage Co. to its roster. Gotham, an agency covering condo, co‑op and apartment policies, has focused on Brooklyn and Manhattan’s real estate. The purchase expands ALKEME’s personal reach and secures a presence in one of the country’s most active markets, CEO Curtis Barton said. President Jeffrey Schneider noted the deal will let Gotham keep its “personal, hands‑on service” while tapping the technology and scale of a top‑25 brokerage.

    Founded 60 years ago by Schneider’s parents, Gotham has been led by Jeffrey since 1982. The acquisition follows ALKEME’s recent purchase of D&S Agency, an employee‑benefits firm run by Bill Kite and Amanda Dammann that serves clients in Virginia, North Carolina and Tennessee.

    Since its 2020 launch, ALKEME has completed more than 70 acquisitions, now operating from 60 offices across 29 states. The Insurance Journal ranks it among the top 25 largest agencies.
