A
mazon has expanded its presence near Denver International Airport (DIA) with the purchase of additional land for trailer parking. The tech and retail giant spent around $5 million on a 13-acre site, located about two miles south of the airport, near the intersection of 64th Avenue and Powhaton Road.
The property is part of the DIA Logistics Park campus, which spans 226 acres and eight buildings. Amazon previously purchased the only constructed building in October for $96 million, bringing its total footprint to 86 acres in the park.
Ambrose Property Group, an Indianapolis-based industrial investor and developer, sold the land to Amazon at around $8 per square foot. The company has been attracted to the area due to its proximity to E-470, Interstate 70, and the airport itself. Development is expected to increase in the surrounding areas as DIA prepares to add a fourth concourse.
Amazon's expansion near DIA comes as the region experiences growing demand for industrial space. The land south of the airport has become a prime location for developers due to its accessibility and potential for growth.
