Amazon founder Bezos sells Seattle estate for record-breaking price, relocating to Florida

Amazon founder bids farewell to Washington State property portfolio in move to Florida.

J
eff Bezos has bid farewell to Seattle's waterfront, selling his sprawling Hunts Point estate for a record-breaking $63 million. The sale eclipses the state's previous record and underscores the enduring appeal of ultra-luxury properties, even in a cooling high-end market.

The 9,420-square-foot mansion, nestled along Lake Washington's shores, boasts lavish amenities like an elevator, glass walkway, and rooftop terrace with fireplace. Bezos purchased the property through an opaque trust in 2019 for $37.5 million.

This sale marks Bezos' first move to unload several properties in Seattle, including a 30,000-square-foot Tudor-style mansion known as La Haye estate. He still maintains this property, which he acquired in 2010 for $45 million.

The recent sale trumps last year's top Washington transactions, including a $38.9 million Medina estate. Western Washington's luxury market saw a dip in 2024, with just 14 homes fetching $10 million or more. However, the region's median home price on the Eastside held strong at $1.7 million as of March.

Bezos' decision to sell comes after he announced plans to leave Seattle for Florida to be closer to his parents. He has since purchased two adjacent Miami properties on Indian Creek Island for a combined $147 million and another property on the island for $90 million, dubbed "Billionaire's Island."
