Andrew Rannells Just Listed His NYC Home: The Real Reason

443 W. 24th St. unit is a charmer, yet the famed actor now spends his time elsewhere.

A
ndrew Rannells, the Grammy‑winning actor, recently put his Chelsea triplex on the market for $2.39 million. Though he has long called New York home, Rannells now resides in Mid‑City, Los Angeles, with partner Tuc Watkins and Watkins’ twin children. “I started going back and forth to LA in 2013,” he told *Gimme Shelter*. “We began dating in 2019, and that’s when I began spending more time here.” He added that he isn’t abandoning New York permanently; if the right project comes along, he’ll return. “I could never fully leave New York,” he said. “I love it too much. I just find myself in Los Angeles more these days with work and my family, so it seems like the right time to make a change, as much as it pains me to leave this beautiful apartment. I will definitely be looking for another place here, most likely someplace that is close to the Broadway theaters. I can never stray too far from Broadway.”

The 1,400‑sq‑ft triplex sits in a 1850 Greek‑Revival building at 443 W 24th St, between Ninth and Tenth Avenues near the High Line. Rannells bought the two‑bedroom co‑op for $2.1 million in 2018, his first New York purchase after the success of *Girls*. The unit boasts hardwood floors, a decorative fireplace, and a 140‑sq‑ft terrace where Rannells often writes while sipping coffee. The apartment also features built‑in storage, a walk‑in closet, and a spa‑like bath with skylights.

Climbing two flights of stairs opens into a spacious living and dining area with built‑in bookcases and three large windows. A chef’s kitchen with white marble counters and an oversized porcelain farmhouse sink anchors the space. The second floor houses a den that can double as a bedroom, another bedroom with a walk‑in closet, a marble bath, and a washer/dryer. The third floor contains the main bedroom suite, complete with a walk‑in closet and an ensuite bath illuminated by wall‑to‑wall skylights.

Rannells is also an author, having published the memoir *Too Much Is Not Enough* in 2019 and essays in the *New York Times* Modern Love and Opinion sections. His acting credits include originating Kevin Price in *The Book of Mormon* on Broadway and co‑starring in *A Simple Favor* with Blake Lively.

The listing is handled by Corcoran’s Michael Russell, a friend of Rannells, alongside colleagues Caroline Holl and Stephen Geller.
