ate Paul, the Austin real estate developer at the center of Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton's impeachment trial, has been arrested and jailed on unrelated charges. Paul was booked into Travis County jail on Thursday night, serving a 10-day sentence for contempt of court related to a civil lawsuit filed by the Mitte Foundation. He is accused of making false statements in the case, which he denies.
The charges stem from allegations that Paul defrauded the charity. This development comes as Paxton's impeachment trial remains pending, with Paul's name having surfaced last year during proceedings. At the time, Paxton was accused of helping Paul gain inside information about a federal investigation into his business dealings.
