T
he government of Quintana Roo has issued a warning about fraudulent land sales in the municipality of Bacalar. The Secretariat of Sustainable Urban Territorial Development (Sedetus) named several fake real estate companies that are selling land without municipal permits.
Companies like DEPI del Caribe, Ariveé Lagoon Bacalar, and Zazil Bacalar have been involved in real estate development without proper authorization. According to Sedetus, these companies may be committing a crime against urban development by violating property rights.
The government is urging citizens to avoid making purchases with the listed companies, as well as sale and rental transactions with their developments. Secretary José Alberto Alonso Ovando confirmed that the seven named developments in Bacalar pose a high risk to buyers due to unpermitted sales.
This warning comes as part of a broader effort by the state government to address fraudulent real estate activities. Recently, authorities shut down an illegal residential development in Cancun and evicted settlers from a plot of land in Playa del Carmen after they were found squatting on state-owned property.
