Barings Acquires Artemis Real Estate Partners

Barings to Acquire Artemis Real Estate Partners, Boosting Its Real Estate Capabilities

B
arings is acquiring Artemis Real Estate Partners, a female-led firm with $11 billion in assets under management. The deal will significantly boost Barings' real estate capabilities and propel its assets under management past the $60 billion mark.

As part of the acquisition, Artemis will rebrand as "a Barings company" while maintaining its leadership team, led by Deborah Harmon and Alex Gilbert. This move is expected to strengthen the platform for Artemis investors and enhance Barings' position in the real estate investment market.

The acquisition marks a major expansion for Barings, which already had over $50 billion in assets under management at the end of last year. With Artemis on board, Barings will leapfrog into the top 30 of PERE's ranking of real estate investment firms.

"We believe this acquisition will meaningfully enhance our capabilities," said Mike Freno, CEO of Barings. The deal is set to close this quarter, with financial terms remaining undisclosed.

The addition of Artemis' expertise and assets will bring Barings' real estate workforce to nearly 375 employees. As the real estate investment market continues to recover from low transaction volumes caused by rising interest rates, mergers like this are becoming increasingly common among top firms.
