resident Joe Biden has commuted the sentence of Keith Vinson, a Western North Carolina real estate developer involved in the failed Seven Falls project in Etowah. Vinson's 18-year prison sentence for fraud was among those commuted by the outgoing president. The Seven Falls project, initially planned as an upscale community with 900 homes and a golf course designed by Arnold Palmer, ultimately collapsed after Vinson filed for bankruptcy in 2009. He was later convicted of defrauding banks out of over $20 million through a scheme that led to his 2015 conviction.
