illy Joel has finally sold one of his oceanfront homes in Manalapan after listing it on and off for six years. The five-time Grammy winner sold the 13,400-square-foot mansion at 1110 South Ocean Boulevard for $42.6 million, although the buyer's identity remains unknown. Christian Angle of Christian Angle Real Estate represented both parties in the deal.
Joel purchased the estate in 2015 for $22.1 million and initially listed it for $31.9 million in 2018. The asking price fluctuated over the years, reaching as high as $64.9 million during the pandemic peak before being reduced to $49.9 million in March. Agents note that demand has increased for luxury homes in Manalapan due to their unique waterfront features and more affordable prices compared to similar properties in Palm Beach.
Manalapan is gaining attention as a prime location for ultra-luxury homes, with billionaire Larry Ellison's recent purchase of the Eau Palm Beach Resort & Spa for $277.4 million. Joel himself is looking to sell other significant real estate holdings, including his oceanfront estate on Long Island's Oyster Bay, which he listed for $49.9 million earlier this month.
