Billy Joel's NYC Office Apartment Now for Sale

The Piano Man's penthouse at 128 Central Park South had a cleverly connected unit.

A
one-bedroom apartment at 128 Central Park South, once used as Billy Joel's office and studio, is on the market for $1 million. The prewar unit served as an extension of Joel's massive penthouse above it, which he shared with Christie Brinkley from 1985 to 1994.

The apartment has hardwood floors, a windowed eat-in kitchen, and a main bedroom with an ensuite bath. It's located in the limestone building that dates back to 1928, designed in classic Italianate Renaissance-Palazzo style.

Joel sold this unit in 2014 for $775,000 after selling his penthouse for $11 million in 2013. The listing broker, Keith Hodges of Nest Seekers International, describes the apartment as a "legendary address" ready for its next owner to carry on a legacy of style and innovation.

Joel's past at the building is well-documented, including his marriage to Brinkley, which was recently written about in her autobiography. The couple remains friends despite their 1994 divorce and share daughter Alexa Ray Joel together.
