Bond-worthy estate sells for record-breaking $37 million in Delray Beach

Retired healthcare CEO Barry Smith buys "Villa Spectre" for $36.8M, setting Delray Beach price record.

B
arry Smith, a retired tech CEO and James Bond enthusiast, has purchased Delray Beach's most expensive home, "Villa Spectre," for $36.8 million. The 21,700-square-foot mansion, located in the Stone Creek Ranch gated community, boasts seven bedrooms, 10 bathrooms, and an array of luxury features including a theater, private salon, spa facilities, and dual kitchens. Smith bought the property at 16161 Quiet Vista Circle from developer Aldo Stark's Prestige Design Homes, who completed the project just days before the sale.

The mansion comes fully furnished, with Smith reportedly paying an undisclosed amount for the artwork, silverware, and other decorative elements. The estate spans 2.5 lakefront acres and features a 95-foot pool, soccer field, pickleball and basketball court, putting green, and outdoor kitchen. Stark initially purchased the property in March 2023 for $6.8 million.

The sale sets a new pricing standard for Stone Creek Ranch and Delray Beach, surpassing last year's record of $26 million for a lakefront mansion in the same neighborhood. The community has attracted high-profile buyers, including billionaire Mets owner Steven Cohen and health care investor Dr. Eric Moskow. Stark is working on additional ultra-luxury homes in the area, with plans to list them at $65 million each.

Listing agent Senada Adzem notes that Smith's purchase demonstrates a willingness to pay top dollar for high-end properties, particularly those that justify the price through exceptional design and features. The sale also highlights Stark's ability to deliver luxury products that meet the demands of discerning buyers.
