A
luxurious estate in the Hollywood Hills' Bird Streets neighborhood, once owned by Britney Spears and later Brittany Murphy, has hit the market with a price tag of nearly $18 million. The property is being listed by Carolwood Estates' David Parnes and James Harris, along with Haylen Group's Helen Chong and Susanna Leung. Located at 1895 Rising Glen Road, the estate boasts extensive renovations completed in 2016, which have transformed it from its former state.
The current seller has invested an additional $2.7 million into the property, updating features such as the outdoor motor gate, front entrance steps, bedroom built-ins, and a new guest bedroom with a marble fireplace. The three-floor home spans 9,400 square feet, featuring five bedrooms, nine baths, and a range of luxurious amenities including a theater, fitness studio, massage room, elevator, floor-to-ceiling windows, wraparound terrace, and two wet bars.
The property last traded in December 2020 for $12.2 million, according to listing sites. Sales in the Bird Streets have been impacted by interest rates, but agents are now seeing a rebound in business due to expected rate cuts. The nearby sale of a 23,000-square-foot mansion at 1898 Rising Glen Road for $62.8 million may also be contributing to renewed interest in the area.
Other sellers in the vicinity have recently relisted their properties, including 1380 Mockingbird Place for just under $35 million and 1457 Blue Jay Way for nearly $20 million. The Hollywood Hills market is showing signs of recovery, with a recent sale at 8116 Laurel View Drive fetching $19 million last December and being relisted for nearly $24 million in September.
