rooklyn is undergoing significant transformations with various real estate developments and infrastructure changes. Downtown Brooklyn has seen a massive housing boom, setting a record for the total number of apartments completed in 2025, with over 3,700 units, including 1,048 affordable ones. The Everly at 180 Ashland Place and the Rocklyn at 20 Rockwell Place are notable large developments.
In Boerum Hill, a long-vacant city-owned lot will be redeveloped into a 9-story building with 70 affordable housing units, including space for formerly homeless households, as well as a community center and job training facility. In Clinton Hill, the former mega-shelter site at 47 Hall Street is being transformed into a mixed-use complex featuring housing, retail spaces, and self-storage.
Infrastructure upgrades are also underway in Brooklyn Heights, where the High Street (A/C) station is receiving new escalators. Additionally, Pier 6 in Sunset Park is being redeveloped into a public waterfront green space with improved resiliency and native plant protection. The project is expected to be completed by 2027.
In Greenpoint, plans have been unveiled for three new mixed-income residential towers at the 22-acre waterfront development of Greenpoint Landing, which will bring over 1,000 apartments, including 300 affordable units. However, the Brooklyn Marine Terminal redevelopment has stalled due to local opposition and concerns about community input being ignored.
