Brothers behind luxury real estate firm face sex assault charges

Brothers accused of drugging, assaulting, raping dozens of women over more than a decade.

T
hree brothers, including prominent New York City luxury real estate agents Tal and Oren Alexander, have been accused of working together with others to drug, sexually assault, and rape dozens of women over a decade. The Alexanders' brother, Alon, was also arrested on federal charges in Miami on Wednesday morning.

According to an indictment unsealed in New York, the brothers conspired to repeatedly drug, sexually assault, and rape women from at least 2010 to 2021. Prosecutors say they used their positions of influence to lure victims to events, parties, and luxury trips, often using deception, fraud, and coercion.

The alleged sex trafficking scheme began in 2010 and relied on the brothers' wealth and social connections to induce women to attend parties and events where they were then attacked. The indictment alleges that the brothers used dating apps, social media, or party planners as intermediaries to contact victims, and sometimes procured drugs like GHB and cocaine to spike their drinks.

The indictment includes two identified victims and charges the brothers with conspiracy and forcible sex trafficking. FBI Assistant Director James Dennehy praised the bravery of the victims who came forward, saying it made the investigation possible.

Dozens of women have accused the Alexander brothers of assault, and investigators are looking into possible accomplices. Federal prosecutors say some victims needed medical treatment after the fact and described being terrified that they would be hurt or killed.

The brothers began their careers at Douglas Elliman before launching their own firm, Official, in 2022. They had previously been accused in civil lawsuits of various acts of sexual misconduct. Anyone who believes they may be a victim or has any knowledge is asked to call 1-800-CALL-FBI or email [email protected]. All contact will be kept confidential.
