T
he former home of golf legend Arnold Palmer is up for sale in La Quinta, California, with a price tag of $5 million. The property, located on the Tradition Golf Club, has undergone a modern makeover by its current owner, Louise Bellisimo, who purchased it in 2022.
Bellisimo, who had previously stayed at the house, acted quickly to secure the property after learning that Palmer's daughters planned to sell. She donated much of the original furniture to Palmer's charity and kept select personal items while renovating the space to modernize it without losing its original character.
The 2,617-square-foot home features four bedrooms, three and a half bathrooms, and stunning views of the Santa Rosa Mountains. Bellisimo widened rear doors to frame these breathtaking views and replaced the original wood floors with Saltillo tiles. She also updated the bathrooms and cabinetry while preserving the home's traditional style.
The property is a piece of Palmer's legacy, featuring personal artifacts such as photos, armchairs, and his golf cart. Bellisimo found a box of photographs in the garage, including one inscribed by Palmer's caddie Michael "Fluff" Cowan. The home also boasts a spacious living room with 16-foot beamed ceilings and ample natural light.
The location is unbeatable for any avid golfer, sitting directly on the second fairway of the short course Palmer designed to hone his short game. Bellisimo said that prospective buyers will love walking out the door and onto the tee box in just a few steps.
Despite owning the house for only two years, Bellisimo has decided to sell due to family commitments. The listing is held by Tamara Baron of Desert Sotheby's International Realty.
