ashion designer Calvin Klein's penthouse office and studio in Chelsea has sold for $3 million, a significant drop from its original price of $4 million in 2006. The unit was last listed for $3.4 million, nearly half off its 2019 asking price of $6.5 million.
Located on the 18th floor of the Chelsea Arts Tower at 545 W. 25th St., the 3,300-square-foot space features sleek lines and an abundance of natural light. Designed by architect Richard Gluckman to reflect Klein's minimalist style, the unit boasts 11-foot ceilings, floor-to-ceiling glass walls, and polished concrete floors.
The open-plan workspace leads to a reception area, kitchen, and a 420-square-foot private terrace with stunning views of Hudson Yards, the Hudson River, and the city skyline. The penthouse also features ample storage space and a unique 24-foot metal conference table that was once delivered by crane.
Calvin Klein sold his fashion business in 2003 and has since demonstrated an eye for real estate, including the sale of his East Hampton oceanfront property for $85 million in 2021. The Chelsea unit's listing agents were Noel Berk, Elizabeth Mercedes Berk, Fran Shapiro, and Sarah Gabbay of Engel & Völkers, while the buyers were represented by Sahar Ziv and Ethan Silver of Douglas Elliman.
