eter A. Chacanias has joined Flaster Greenberg PC as counsel in the firm’s real‑estate, land‑use and environmental practice, according to a recent announcement. In his new capacity, he will guide commercial developers and property owners through every phase of a project—from initial concept to the ribbon‑cutting ceremony—covering development, redevelopment, affordable housing, permitting and environmental compliance.
Chacanias brings a robust track record of representing clients before planning boards, zoning boards of adjustment and other regulatory agencies throughout New Jersey. He is experienced with site‑plan approvals, subdivision and variance applications, and has specialized knowledge in waterfront development, tidelands, wetlands, pinelands and historic preservation, as well as interactions with state and federal environmental bodies.

Previously, Chacanias served as board solicitor for several New Jersey municipalities, including the Point Pleasant Beach planning board and zoning boards of adjustment in Little Egg Harbor, Toms River and Summit. He is a frequent speaker on land‑use, zoning, tidelands and waterfront development at professional gatherings such as the New Jersey Institute for Continuing Legal Education, the National Business Institute, the NEXUS Association of Realtors, Surety Title and Fidelity National Title.
An active member of the New Jersey State Bar Association, he sits on the board of directors of the NJSBA Land‑Use Section. Chacanias earned his J.D. and bachelor’s degree from Seton Hall University School of Law and Seton Hall University, respectively.
