A
second record‑setting sale in Winnetka has just been announced.
A lakefront estate on the North Shore sold for $34.5 million, surpassing the earlier $31.25 million sale of the Windsor House.
Listing agent Jena Radnay confirmed the transaction to NBC Chicago, saying, “It feels amazing. I’m thrilled for all the residents of Winnetka.”
The property, highlighted in Architectural Digest in 2019, was designed by Northworks Architecture. The firm described it as a “custom‑made home that blends classic French Provincial architecture with the necessities of modern living.” Per the architect’s website, the estate sits high above Lake Michigan on the bluffs, offering sweeping water views and surrounded by gardens that give the house a timeless feel.
Key amenities include a terrace, swimming pool, luxury gardens, greenhouse, heated pool pavilion, boathouse, and more.
The Quicksilver family—Jeffrey and Ashley—purchased the land in 2013 for $8 million, demolished the original house, and listed the parcel with building plans for $10.5 million in 2014 before proceeding with construction. Radnay noted that the final sale price incorporated the mansion’s furnishings. According to a Chicago Tribune public record, the sale was recorded at $32.5 million, implying $2 million worth of interior items. Even at that figure, the price eclipses the Windsor House record.
Radnay, who also handled the Windsor House sale, emphasized that these high prices underscore Winnetka’s rising value and appeal. “I’m all about showcasing to Illinois how special Winnetka is—community, schools, security—these numbers confirm Winnetka is No. 1,” she told NBC Chicago.
