A
ctor Chris Pratt may be called to testify in singer Katy Perry's ongoing lawsuit against Carl Westcott, the ailing veteran who sold her his Montecito home for $15 million five years ago. The property was purchased by Perry after Westcott backed out of the deal, claiming he wasn't of sound mind due to painkillers and a back condition.
Perry's representatives argued that Westcott had been of sound mind when agreeing to the sale, but ultimately won the case in December 2023 with a judge ruling in her favor. However, Perry is now seeking up to $6 million in damages from Westcott for alleged interior and exterior damages, repairs, and lost rental income.
Pratt and his wife Katherine Schwarzenegger are currently renting the property while their new home in Brentwood is being built. They were loaned the house by Perry after moving out of their Pacific Palisades mansion. However, Pratt's potential involvement in the trial hinges on whether the judge believes the home underwent significant repairs between Perry taking ownership and Pratt moving in.
Westcott's lawyers have asked the judge to question Pratt about the condition of the home when he moved in, suggesting that he could provide key evidence to dispute Perry's claims of damage. However, legal expert Christopher C. Melcher notes that Pratt's testimony may not be relevant if repairs were made by Perry before renting the property to him.
The case is ongoing, with Perry set to testify against Westcott this month. Westcott's lawyers have also previously tried to call Perry's former fiancé Orlando Bloom as a witness but were denied by the judge.
