ity of Hope has acquired 52 acres of land surrounding its upcoming cancer campus in Irvine, California, for $88.5 million. The purchase from FivePoint, a prominent local developer, connects the site to City of Hope Orange County's administrative offices near Barranca and Alton parkways. This expansion will eventually lead to the opening of the first cancer specialty hospital in Orange County by late 2025.
The new hospital, which began construction in 2023, will be a 164,000-square-foot facility with 73 beds. City of Hope is expanding into Orange County to reduce travel times for thousands of patients who currently seek treatment at its Duarte facility. The acquisition marks the second comprehensive cancer center that City of Hope will have in California.
The purchased land does not have immediate plans for development, and existing leases will remain in place until their terms expire. Annette M. Walker, president of City of Hope Orange County, stated that acquiring this land secures the future of bringing advanced cancer care to Orange County residents.
