laire Danes is selling her West Village townhouse in New York City for $9.75 million. The 45-year-old actress, known for her roles in "Homeland" and "Romeo + Juliet," listed the four-bedroom, 4.5-bathroom home in early August through StreetEasy. Although the sale has not yet closed, it's unclear who is buying the property or for how much.
Danes purchased the townhouse with her husband, British actor Hugh Dancy, in 2012 for $6.87 million when they were expecting their first child. The couple had two more children after that and now need more space as their kids grow. They also want room for extended family members to stay when visiting from out of town.
The 3,890-square-foot residence has undergone significant renovations since the Danes' purchase. Architect Joan Krevlin modernized the interior spaces, including moving the kitchen from the front to the back and installing a glass wall and ceiling with glass bricks to let in natural light. The result is a stunning home with private outdoor spaces, including a roof terrace with an outdoor kitchen and pizza oven.
The townhouse features airy living areas, a large dining table, a home office, a wet bar, and beautifully restored fireplaces throughout. Despite parting ways with this home, Danes plans to stay in New York City, where she grew up in Soho.
