ompass CEO Robert Reffkin delivered a keynote address at the company's June 2025 retreat in Denver, Colorado. In his speech to Compass agents, Reffkin declared that the debate over "choice and control" is the most important moment in real estate history. He emphasized Compass' commitment to "seller choice," allowing homeowners to list their properties outside of the MLS if they choose to do so.
Reffkin criticized industry organizations like NAR, MLSs, and real estate portals for restricting private exclusives and interfering with client relationships. He argued that these groups are stifling innovation and competition by enforcing mandatory rules. Reffkin vowed to continue fighting for Compass agents' right to choose how they market their listings and run their businesses.
The CEO also announced the rollout of new AI tools next month, which will enable agents to offload administrative tasks with voice or text commands. The goal is to create a future where AI can proactively identify leads, build marketing materials, and handle forms and disclosures, allowing agents to focus on building relationships.
Reffkin reaffirmed Compass' mission to empower agents, stating that the company's technology investments are designed to give them an edge. He emphasized that everything Compass does is centered around supporting its agents and their clients.
