ompass Datacenters, a rapidly growing company recognized by Inc. Magazine as one of the 5000 fastest-growing companies, is expanding its presence in Ellis County with three new facilities at its Red Oak campus. The DFW III-III Buildings 5-7 will span over 750,000 square feet along Austin Boulevard near Interstate 35, adding to the company's growing footprint in the area. With an estimated cost of $300 million and a completion date set for 2026, work on Building 5 began in 2022, while construction on Buildings 6 and 7 started earlier this year.

This is not Compass' first major investment in Red Oak. The company has already planned two other facilities, DFW III-II Building 3 and DFW III-II Building 4, covering a combined 500,000 square feet, with an estimated cost of $200 million and a delivery date set for next year. Additionally, Compass has acquired more land in the area, expanding its holdings to 540 acres since purchasing 165 acres in 2019.

Compass has also partnered with Schneider Electric to open a manufacturing facility in June as part of a $3 billion data center technology agreement. The facility will produce critical components for data centers, enhancing Compass' operational capabilities. Red Oak is emerging as a hub for data center developments, with Google building a $600 million data center adjacent to Compass' site and DataBank developing an 480-megawatt data center campus on 292 acres.

Compass is not limited to Red Oak, however. The company is also building a data center complex in the former Sears world headquarters at 3333 Beverly Road in northwest suburban Chicago.
