ennifer Leahy, a top-producing agent in Connecticut, is leaving Douglas Elliman after over a decade to join Compass. Leahy's team, which includes six other agents and has been the top-performing group at Elliman since 2020, will make the switch. The move comes after Compass CEO Robert Reffkin reached out to Leahy directly.
Leahy's team has consistently produced high sales volumes, including over $165 million in 2023 alone. They have also brokered notable deals, such as the sale of a private island off Connecticut's Gold Coast for an eight-figure sum. The group will bring most of their listings with them to Compass, although some details are still being ironed out.
Compass has been actively poaching top agents from Elliman across key luxury markets. In 2023, 39 former Elliman agents joined Compass in New York, California, Florida, and Texas, bringing a combined sales volume of around $1 billion. Leahy's departure is the latest high-profile move to Compass, which also recently acquired @properties and Christie's International Real Estate for $444 million.
Leahy plans to leverage Compass' large pool of agents to grow her business and continue fostering a "growth mindset." She also hopes to teach meditation classes to other Compass agents, something she previously did at Elliman.
