Coworking spaces evolve into social clubs for entrepreneurs

East Dallas entrepreneurs behind Common Desk launch country club project in Lake Highlands.

D
allas entrepreneurs Nick Clark and Dawson Williams, founders of coworking space Common Desk, are shifting their focus to a new venture: developing a family-friendly country club in Lake Highlands. They've acquired the 159,000-square-foot former medical office building at 10405 East Northwest Highway, with plans to convert it into a community-driven club featuring a pool and various amenities.

The property, valued at $2.4 million, was previously eyed for residential development by The Javelin Group, which sought a zoning change to build up to 40 homes. Clark and Williams aim to reuse the existing building instead of tearing it down, citing their desire to maintain intimacy with local members. They've received investment interest from Lake Highlands residents.

The proposed club will include a 6,000-square-foot pool, gym, yoga and pilates studios, spa features, two restaurants, and 18,000 square feet for indoor children's play areas. Membership fees are expected to range from $399 to $450 per month, with an initiation fee between $7,500 and $10,000. Clark and Williams believe their pricing offers a more affordable alternative to other country clubs in the area.

If they secure necessary zoning approval, construction is set to begin in February 2025, with a target opening date of late 2026.
