riterion Real Estate Capital has bolstered its senior leadership team with two key hires. Adam Matos joins as managing director and Ben Milde takes on the role of chief operating officer. Both executives bring extensive experience in commercial real estate structured finance, with Matos having spent seven years at Safehold and Milde previously serving as managing partner of Richbell Equities.
Matos' background in restructurings, high-yield debt origination, and ground lease execution makes him a strong fit for Criterion's business model. Rosenzweig praises his skills and experience, saying he will help the firm reach new heights. Milde's expertise in multifamily deals and development experience also aligns with Criterion's focus on originating high-yield debt, participating loans, and deploying preferred and senior equity into U.S. gateway markets.
Criterion prioritizes investing in high-quality real estate through its "evergreen strategy," which allows it to adapt to different market cycles by shifting between credit and equity investments. Rosenzweig notes that no two deals are alike, with varying structures depending on the opportunity. With Matos and Milde on board, Criterion aims to capitalize on opportunities in distressed markets and recapitalize existing assets.
