OBURN, Mass. – Cummings Properties is celebrating the season with a $549,000 boost to local nonprofits through its annual Cummings Community Giving initiative. The commercial real estate firm invites staff to direct up to $2,000 from the company to their chosen nonprofit.
This year marks the 13th cycle of the program, which supports communities where employees live and work. Nearly 240 organizations in over 100 cities and towns will benefit from this round of funding. Chairman and CEO Dennis Clarke says the program is a key way for staff to engage with the company's mission.
"Cummings Properties is committed to giving back to our communities," said Clarke. "This program allows our employees to make a tangible impact, which aligns perfectly with our values."
Cummings senior administrative assistant Christine Lane, who recently joined the company, split her donation between two local organizations: West Medford Community Center and Malden Warming Center.
"This was my first experience with Cummings Community Giving, and it's been incredibly rewarding," said Lane. "I feel proud to work for a company that prioritizes giving back."
Cristina Barreira, housekeeping supervisor at New Horizons at Marlborough, directed $2,000 to the Brazilian American Center (BRACE), which serves individuals of all nationalities in MetroWest.
"BRACE does vital work in our community," said Barreira. "My donation will help fund Christmas baskets and holiday meals for those who need it most."
Through this year's cycle, 15 nonprofits reached the maximum funding limit of $6,000 each, including Andrew's Helpful Hands, Animal Rescue League of Boston, and Boston Children's Hospital.
